SCOPE:

As a Total Loss Adjuster, you will be responsible for evaluating claims and making determinations on properties, vehicles, or assets that have been declared a total loss. This involves conducting thorough investigations, assessing damage, estimating the value of the loss, and negotiating settlements with policyholders. Additionally, the adjuster will calculate total loss values, explain offers to policyholders, secure total loss paperwork from customers, and communicate with lienholders. This position offers a remote work arrangement, allowing the ideal candidate to work from their preferred location within the Southeast region.

DUTIES:

 

  • Review insurance policies to understand the coverage limits and exclusions relevant to the claim.
  • Utilize industry-standard valuation methods, software, and tools to determine the fair market value of the total loss.
  • Gather information from policyholders regarding the circumstances of the loss and ensure all necessary documentation is provided.
  • Accurately calculate the total loss values based on the assessment findings and in compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Provide clear and detailed explanations of the total loss valuation and settlement offers to policyholders, addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Collect and ensure all necessary paperwork related to total loss claims is completed and submitted by policyholders.
  • Negotiate fair and reasonable settlements with policyholders, adhering to company policies and industry regulations.
  • Liaise with lienholders or other relevant parties to facilitate the settlement process and ensure all necessary documentation is obtained.
  • Prepare detailed reports outlining the assessment findings, valuation, and recommended settlement amounts.
  • Ensure all claim documentation and records are accurate, complete, and comply with company and regulatory standards.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, legal regulations, and best practices related to total loss assessment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing policyholder concerns, questions, and providing clear explanations of the claims process.

EDUCATION:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field preferred. Experience in lieu of degree considered. 
  • Adjusters license required.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
 
  • At least 1 – 3 years of insurance industry experience, claims processing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools for valuation and estimation.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in assessments.
  • Ability to remain objective and impartial in assessing losses.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
