SCOPE:
As an IT Data Engineer at UAIC, you will help design and build modern, efficient, and scalable data integration processes across multiple systems. You’ll work on consolidating ETL pipelines into a unified technology stack and support downstream data analysis, reporting, and machine learning initiatives across departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from various sources such as SQL Server, CSV files, AS400/DB2 systems.
- Consolidate and modernize data workflows using Azure Data Factory and/or other cloud-native tools.
- Support the creation of a centralized data lake environment for enterprise-wide analytics.
- Automate and optimize data extraction, transformation, and loading processes to improve scalability, reliability, and transparency.
- Work with cross-functional teams to support data requirements for reporting and dashboard development using Tableau/Power BI
- Perform validation checks, exception handling, and monitoring for data integrity and process health.
- Maintain technical documentation for data flows, integration specs, and design patterns.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to understand data needs and support a broader analytics strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's is a plus.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines and data workflows.
- Proficiency with SQL Server and advanced SQL development.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory or similar cloud data integration tools.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Redshift, or Snowflake.
- Knowledge of reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, SSRS) and BI integration best practices.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Familiarity with P&C insurance data is a plus but not required.
