The ideal candidate will have proven capabilities and understanding of Georgia Auto policy coverage & statutes knowledge. Georgia Property and Casualty Insurance Producer License is highly desirable. This is a remote role, and candidates can be seated in the South-east region of the U.S. #LIRemote 


SCOPE:

As an Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and analyzing insurance applications, assessing risk factors, and making informed decisions to ensure profitability and compliance with company policies. This position requires a deep understanding of property and casualty insurance, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. This position currently offers a remote work arrangement, allowing the ideal candidate to work from their preferred location within the Southeast region.


DUTIES:
 

  • Thoroughly review insurance applications to understand the nature of the risk involved.
  • Assess underwriting information, including loss history, inspection reports, and financial statements.
  • Verify compliance with company underwriting guidelines and industry regulations.
  • Make informed decisions on whether to accept, modify, or reject policies based on risk assessment.
  • Scrutinize discounts applied during the sales process for accuracy and adherence to company policies.
  • Evaluate supporting documentation to validate the eligibility of applied discounts.
  • Approve or remove discounts based on the completeness and accuracy of the supporting documentation.
  • Analyze new information or discoveries made during the underwriting process.
  • Adjust pricing by uprating or discounting when additional information impacts the risk assessment.
  • Initiate underwriting cancellation in cases where policy terms cannot be met or pose excessive risk.
  • Identify aspects of underwriting cases that are unclear or fall into a gray area.
  • Generate and send underwriting suspense requests to agents or brokers for additional information.
  • Maintain open communication to ensure a comprehensive understanding of risk factors and to protect the interests of the company.
  • Implement proper procedures for rejecting insurance applications that do not meet underwriting criteria.
  • Document the reasons for rejection and communicate decisions to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure policy exclusions are accurately recorded, and the implications are clearly communicated to policyholders and internal teams.

EDUCATION:
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Georgia Auto Insurance Producers license is highly desirable


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
 
  • Prior Georgia Auto policy coverage & statutes knowledge required
  • Georgia Property and Casualty Insurance Producer License is highly desirable
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Must be familiar with forms, procedures, regulations, coverage and business processes for assigned programs.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Windows-based applications and internet usage.
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment and state opinions assertively.
  • Must be able to perform work effectively in a highly intense environment and handle multiple tasks and demands simultaneously.
  • Customer-focused and empathetic.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of calls while maintaining professionalism.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
