SCOPE:
The Fire & Theft Property Damage Adjuster is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and resolving first-party and third-party property damage claims involving fire loss, theft, and related exposures. This role requires strong coverage interpretation, damage assessment capability, and the ability to manage complex claims in a high-severity, high-fraud-risk environment.
The adjuster will handle claims ranging from moderate to complex severity and must balance timely resolution with thorough investigation, particularly given Florida’s litigation climate and fraud considerations.

SCOPE:
The Fire & Theft Property Damage Adjuster is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and resolving first-party and third-party property damage claims involving fire loss, theft, and related exposures. This role requires strong coverage interpretation, damage assessment capability, and the ability to manage complex claims in a high-severity, high-fraud-risk environment.
The adjuster will handle claims ranging from moderate to complex severity and must balance timely resolution with thorough investigation, particularly given Florida’s litigation climate and fraud considerations.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and manage fire and theft-related property damage claims from FNOL through resolution
- Determine coverage applicability, including policy exclusions, endorsements, and limits
- Conduct detailed damage assessments using estimates, inspections, and vendor reports
- Evaluate liability and subrogation potential where applicable
- Identify and escalate suspicious or potentially fraudulent claims
- Coordinate with SIU, legal, appraisers, and external vendors (fire investigators, contractors, restoration specialists)
- Review and interpret fire origin & cause reports and police/theft reports
- Negotiate settlements with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and vendors
- Maintain accurate and timely claim documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Manage claim cycle times, severity, and leakage in line with company KPIs
- Support catastrophe response as needed (particularly for fire-related surge events)
- 3–6+ years of property damage adjusting experience (fire and/or theft required)
- Strong knowledge of homeowners, commercial property, or auto PD policies
- Experience handling fire losses, theft claims, or total loss scenarios
- Familiarity with estimating tools (e.g., Xactimate, CCC, or similar)
- Florida adjuster license (required)
- Strong investigative and analytical skills
- Experience working in a litigation-prone environment preferred
- Experience with commercial property or multi-unit risks
- Prior exposure to SIU or fraud detection processes
- Industry designations (AIC, CPCU, or working toward)
- Experience reviewing cause & origin reports
