SCOPE:

As a Guidewire Claim Center Developer at UAIC, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing and maintaining our Guidewire Claim Center application. Your primary responsibilities will include designing and configuring the application to meet business needs, integrating it with other systems, and ensuring smooth and efficient claims processing. You will collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and IT teams to deliver robust solutions while participating in the full software development lifecycle from requirements analysis to testing. Additionally, you will handle troubleshooting, provide ongoing support, and document technical specifications. Your expertise in Guidewire Claim Center, coupled with your skills in programming, web technologies, and database management, will be crucial in optimizing our claims processing capabilities and supporting the overall goals of our property and casualty insurance operations. This position offers a remote work arrangement, allowing the ideal candidate to work from their preferred location.


DUTIES:

 

  • Design, develop, and configure Guidewire Claim Center applications to align with business requirements and enhance claims processing capabilities.
  • Create and maintain customizations and extensions to the Guidewire Claim Center platform using GOSU and Java.
  • Develop user interfaces and workflows to improve usability and efficiency in the claims process.
  • Integrate Guidewire Claim Center with other internal and external systems, ensuring seamless data flow and system interoperability.
  • Implement and manage SOAP/RESTful web services for system integrations and data exchanges.
  • Conduct unit testing to ensure the functionality and reliability of developed components and configurations.
  • Support system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) by providing technical expertise and resolving any issues identified during these phases.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address any bugs or performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, bugs, and performance problems in a timely manner.
  • Provide ongoing support for existing Guidewire Claim Center applications, including issue resolution and performance optimization.
  • Document technical specifications, design decisions, and development processes to ensure clear and comprehensive records.
  • Create user guides and training materials for end-users as needed.
  • Work closely with business analysts to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely delivery of projects and adherence to project timelines.
  • Engage with other IT teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and integration of solutions across the organization.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in Guidewire technology and industry best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements to optimize claims processing and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Adhere to established development methodologies and standards to ensure high-quality deliverables.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • Guidewire Certification:
    • Guidewire Certified Associate in ClaimCenter
    • Guidewire Certified Professional in ClaimCenter Configuration
    • Guidewire Certified Specialist in ClaimCenter Integration
  • Additional Certifications (Optional but beneficial):
    • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) Java SE Programmer
    • Certified Scrum Developer (CSD)
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (for cloud integration)
    • ITIL Foundation Certification (for understanding IT service manageme

TECHNICAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience as an Application Developer or Software Engineer preferred.
  • Familiarity with insurance industry processes and workflows.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
