SCOPE:

The Subrogation Adjuster is responsible for identifying, investigating, and pursuing recovery opportunities from responsible third parties following property and casualty losses. This role involves analyzing claims, coordinating with legal teams, negotiating settlements, and maintaining detailed records of all recovery efforts. The adjuster works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient subrogation processes, compliance with industry regulations, and maximization of recoveries for the company. This position offers a remote work arrangement, allowing the ideal candidate to work from their preferred location within the Southeast region.

DUTIES:
 

  • Conduct comprehensive investigations to identify potential subrogation opportunities, including reviewing claim files, police reports, repair estimates, and other pertinent documentation.

  • Analyze claims to determine the viability of subrogation actions, assessing liability, damages, and the potential for recovery.

  • Work closely with in-house counsel or external legal partners to pursue litigation when necessary, ensuring timely and efficient recovery processes.

  • Engage in direct negotiations with responsible parties, their insurers, or legal representatives to recover funds for the company, aiming for favorable settlements.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all subrogation activities, including recovery efforts, correspondence, and settlement agreements. Prepare regular reports on recovery performance and potential subrogation opportunities.

  • Ensure that all subrogation activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.

  • Liaise with internal claims adjusters, policyholders, and external parties to facilitate the subrogation process, providing updates and guidance as needed.

  • Identify areas for improvement in the subrogation process and contribute to the development of best practices to enhance recovery efforts.


EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Insurance, or a related field preferred. Experience is lieu of degree also considered. 
  • Adjusters license required.
  • Bilingual preferred 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in subrogation, claims adjusting, or a related field within the property and casualty insurance industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance policies, subrogation principles, and legal concepts related to property and casualty claims.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to assess liability and recovery potential.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of cases with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
